Description

Women workers at Mettoy Factory, Fforest fach, Swansea – c.1970s. Madge is third from the left. She worked on the assembly line but worked herself up to be a ‘white-coat’ (charge-hand) on the night shift. She was born in 1927 and came down to Loughor to live from Birkenhead in 1966 when her husband was helping to build Trostre works.
The woman on the far left back row was in charge of the other workers in this photograph. All the women wore their own overalls to work.
