Merlin Rees Watts
Description
Private M.R. watts was awarded the Military Medal "For Conspicuous Gallantry and Devotion to duty in action" on 28th June 1918 probably for his duties as a stretcher bearer.
He was the son of Esther Price of Sarland Farm, Llansadurnen, Laugharne. In November 1916 he had appealed against conscription on the grounds that he was needed on the farm. This was temporarily granted but by the following year he was in The Monmouthshire regiment, later transferring to The Gloucestershire regiment.
