Margam Park from East
Description
Situated in a diverse landscape with evidence of occupation spanning 4000 years, the 850 acre country estate is one of the major ancient settlements of Glamorgan. It has been a place of religious importance throughout its history. The Norman Abbey was founded in the mid 12th century and was a religious centre in Glamorgan up until its dissolution at the hands of Henry VIII. In the early 19th century the park was further enhanced and extended with Margam Castle being built. This tudor style mansion remained in use until the end of the second world war.
