Description

The site on which the Abbey was built had been carefully selected. It occupied a land beneath the lower slopes of Margam mountain and to the North East by the site of an abandoned hill-fort. Two streams converged above the abbey to form a monastic fishpond. This was tapped to provide a continuous flow of water to drain the abbey's domestic buildings.
