I don't think that this is Maerdy, it looks more like one of the southern outcrop pits, i.e., Bedwas, Nantgarw, Coedely or Cwm going by the Coke Works.

I don't think this is Maerdy either. Maerdy did not have tall chimney stacks and also there is a wide road with white lines towards the bottom of the picture which doesn't fit with my memories of Maerdy. It is however very similar to Cwm Colliery, Beddau.
