Description
12th May 1963- Ystywth Road Race. I think they were taken near the football club. Some of the older members of your club will remember us.
Main picture Bernard Smith [Welsh Track sprint champion 1956/57/58, myself (Martin Watts) and Richard Newman. We were members of Carmarthen Wheelers. Wool jerseys and wool shorts and bare heads. None of us won!! Bernard and myself were advised not to cross the finish line as some had seen us holding on to a van during the race.
BTW- despite Bernard being 3 times Welsh sprint champion he was never selected for Welsh team.
