I can with certainty identify that the location of this photograph is not Penarth Dock. There would have been a steep escarpment behind the coal tip if it were situated on the southern side of the dock. In the basin there were 4 moving tips (Nos. 15 to 18) which would have been quite close together. In the main dock, on the northern quay, there were two moving tips (Nos. 19 and 20) which were also close together. I believe this may be Cardiff since most of the Hansen collection were recorded at this location.
