Description
Letter written to Thomas Phillips, Esq at the following address:
No 6, Leinster Street, Great Jackson Street, Hulme, Manchester
from his “affectionate brother and sister, John and Elizabeth Davies”
July18th, 1844
The letter is expressing concern that John and Elizabeth Davies have not received communication from Thomas Benbow and his wife since before Christmas, and were wondering if indeed they had done anything which might have caused offence. They were also enquiring if the Christmas present had arrived safely or had been handled dishonestly by the Boatman en route. They wished to convey their love to the three sisters in the Lord whom they had met whilst visiting Manchester. However, poor sister Mary was very ill and had not long to live. John and Elizabeth Davies wished Thomas Benbow and Mary Ann great prosperity in the future.
