Letter written to Thomas Benbow Phillips, Esq in Pelotas by Christopher James at Rio Grande, dated 5 March 1868.
Christopher James stated that he had received Thomas Benbow Phillips's son's letter, and had sent him 5 milreis to purchase pen, ink and paper so that he could practice letter writing. He hoped that Thomas Benbow Phillips would allow his son to accept such a small gift.
