Letter written to Thomas Benbow Phillips at Pelotas by Christopher James at Rio Grande do Sul, dated 27 June 1868.

Christopher James stated that the family had no butter left, and there was no English butter fit to eat left, even at a price of 2 milreis 500 per pound. He implored Thomas Benbow Phillips to send him some, and hoped he had a pleasant passage to Rio Grande. He enclosed a letter for Mrs Thomas Benbow Phillips.
