Letter written to Mrs Phillips by A Thompson at Rio Grande, dated 21 December 1869

A Thompson was very pleased to hear that Mrs Phillips was in better health, and she thanks the Lord for that. She thanks her for the book she sent, and the uplifting message it contained. She sent good wishes to Mrs Phillips's daughter in law, and mentions that the young woman whom Mrs Burig had brought out had been sent to see Mrs James.

The second page is in different handwriting and explains that the writer had been in hospital, had been sent to see the Consul, but he could not help her.
