Letter written to Thomas Benbow Phillips on the “Beautiful Star” at Rio Grande do Sul, by Joseph Gibson, dated 27 September 1873

Joseph Gibson thanked Thomas Benbow Phillips for his letter of 18th regarding the vessel, and immediately saw Captain Dunn, who was to leave by first steamer to join the vessel. Joseph Gibson sent a copy of a telegram he had received from Cadiz, and hoped matters would be put on a proper footing when Captain Dunn arrived. He would try to advance part of the cash, but if Thomas Benbow Phillips did not have a remittance from him, Joseph Gibson would honour his draft to Captain Dunn to the extent of £100. However ,the Captain might be able to arrange his money matters himself.
