She had recently received a letter in perfect English from Porto Alegre written by a sixteen year old who had stayed at Pelotas during the holidays. She would like to receive a letter from Thomas, she had received a letter from Lewis, and Arthur had promised to write. She complained that she had not received any letters from Thomas Benbow Phillips, and begeds him to send her a portrait of himself and his wife. The only portrait she had of family members was one of Mariana. She would like a portrait of Thomas, Lewis and Arthur, and also Olivia.
