Description

Letter written to Thomas Benbow Phillips by his mother, Mrs Susannah Phillips at Pelotas, dated 18 October, 1875

Mrs Phillips thanked her son, Thomas Benbow Phillips for his welcome letter and his news of the children. She had recently received a letter in perfect English from Porto Alegre written by a sixteen year old who had stayed at Pelotas during the holidays. She would like to receive a letter from Thomas, she had received a letter from Lewis, and Arthur had promised to write. She complained that she had not received any letters from Thomas Benbow Phillips, and begeds him to send her a portrait of himself and his wife. The only portrait she had of family members was one of Mariana. She would like a portrait of Thomas, Lewis and Arthur, and also Olivia.
