Description

Photographs from Keith’s home at 23 Wharf Road, Maindee, Newport, where he lived with his parents before moving to Bettws. His home was compulsorily purchased to be demolished in order to build the George Street Bridge. In the first picture Keith is sitting in the front room dressed up for a special occasion. In the second, Keith's grandparents, Margaret and Frank Curl, pose during their last Christmas at Wharf Road before moving to Bettws. Margaret and Frank had changed their name from Keirle to Curl when they married in August 1917 because they thought Keirle sounded too German.
