Description

The armillary sphere is an ancient instrument, dating back to the time of Ptolemy (AD 107-161), and is used by a ship's navigator to make astronomical observations. The brass rings bear engravings which represent the equator, tropics and poles of the earth, and the movements of the sun, moon, stars and planets.
