Letter from William Higgins, Chester, to his former employee Humphrey Jones, 27 July 1854 [image 1 of 2]

Description

This letter was sent to Humphrey Jones from William Higgins of Chester, his former employer. He writes to inform Humphrey that he has received a letter from 'Mr Clarck of Hackney' requesting some information about Humphrey's character and abilities as an apprentice chemist. However, before he can reply, he requires an explanation regarding some unfavourable comments which were made about him by Humphrey.
Until he receives a satisfactory explanation, he will not be prepared to write any references on behalf of Humphrey.
