The 'Bramley Moore', an 882 ton full-rigged ship, was built in Canada c. 1856. She was acquired by Captain W. H. Owen of Plas Penrhyn, Dwyran, Anglesey. Owen was the owner or part-owner of a number of Liverpool-based ships engaged in worldwide trade, particularly in the guano trade of South America. The 'Bramley Moore' made many trans-Atlantic passages before being wrecked off the coast of South America in September 1864.
