Letter from Lewis Jones to the Rev. Michael D. Jones, 20 April 1871 [image 1 of 10]

Description

Lewis Jones and D. Williams set off for Patagones aboard the ship 'HMS Cracker' the previous day. He explains that, during the previous summer, they attempted to travel to Patagones on two occasions, but without success. On their second trip they travelled some 250 miles with the native Patagonians and saw a great deal of the countryside. He notes that the harvest has failed again this year because of the drought. Even so, the emigrants are building new brick houses and pens for the animals.
