Description: All three women are wearing Welsh hats, possibly of felt rather than silk; goffered caps, and at least two of them have kerchiefs bound around their heads. They illustrate three different ways of carrying baskets used to transport cockle shells and other sea-food.
(1) woman with bedgown with long sleeves or jacket; striped skirt and apron, stockings and shoes.
(2) woman with bold checked shawl over a top with long sleeves, striped skirt and apron, stockings and shoes.
(3) woman with low-cut, short-sleeved gown, with a bold checked shawl tucked into it; a check apron, plain skirt , stockings and shoes.
