Title: “Old Sally” aged 107. / E.A.E. Madocks 1817 (‘Old Sally of Bwlch in Brecon’ added by hand)
Description: Two women in a kitchen.
(1) Young woman with cap with lappets, shawl over short-sleeved gown; apron, check skirt
(2) Elderly woman with small hat, check shawl covering a short-sleeved gown; separate sleeves (or sleeves of an undergarment); check apron, striped skirt, shoes.
Note: The hat is the shape of a Welsh hat but has a narrower curved brim. The distinctive Welsh hat with broad flat brim did not appear until the 1830s.
