Laurel wreath and First World War Peace Treaty, 1918

Description

At the end of the First World War, this laurel wreath - a sign of victory - was thrown into an open carriage where the Prime Minister, David Lloyd George, was sitting alongside King George V. The carriage was driven through the cheering crowds in London following Lloyd George's return to the country after signing the Versailles Peace Treaty.
