Description

The 1st Battalion of the Royal Welch Fusiliers was stationed in England on its return from the Boer War (South Africa) in 1903. Carte de visite photographs like this one were still popular, although it was more usual for a photograph to be reproduced as a postcard which could be sent to friends and relatives.
