Painting of the ship 'Leyland Bros' which sailed from Aberaeron harbour
Description
This ship was built after 1883 and was owned by Messrs. R. W. Leyland & Co. who were firm believers in the three-masted ship.
However, seamen had a strong objection to these very big ships as they said the lower yards were so great in circumference that when they were on foot ropes they could not reach over far enough to pick up the sail, when they were furling or reefing.
The 'Leyland Bros' was commanded by Captain Abraham Lloyd of Greenland, Aberaeron.
