Description

Gwyn y Gof, Cwmdu Blacksmith and father of Hywel Jones made a special brass horseshoe and presented it to Thomas Llewellyn Davies, to honour his father Evan Davies. Evan had been born in 1868 in Cwmdu and had been very well respected in the area. This horseshoe was set in a frame together with a photograph of Gwyn and Evan and the family decided that it should be presented to Talley Parish History Group and displayed in Cwmdu Inn. They reasoned that the horseshoe was made in Cwmdu by a Cwmdu man for another Cwmdu man and shoud be kept in Cwmdu.
