South Wales Echo, Monday 29 October 1979, reported the publication of a report entitled Abortion In Wales, written by South Glamorgan Women’s Aid and sponsored by trades councils, women’s organisations and ‘a number of people from Welsh public life’. It was being sent to all Welsh MPs; the Parliamentary Committee considering the Bill; health authorities; and community health councils in Wales. It drew attention to the inequities in access to abortion across Wales and, in particular, to the low rate of abortions on the NHS in South Glamorgan (34%) compared with West Glamorgan (92%).
