Description

The locomotive illustrated here was the first locomotive built with vertical rocking beams, and included a fully sprung tender. The chimney was hinged to go through a tunnel.

A very early six-coupled locomotive, with high horizontal cylinders driving through a rocking lever, and narrow tires for operation on flanged rails. Eyeballing the drawing: if the cylinders are 10.5" bore, the drivers are about 4' diameter and the track gauge about 6'.
