The Levelinus inscription

Description

The Levelinus stone inscription, erected before 1230. This monument comes from Tir yr Abad (the abbot's land), near Pentrefoelas, north Wales. In 1198 Llywelyn Fawr gave the land to the Cistercian monks at nearby Aberconwy. The inscription was written by a monk from the abbey as a compliment to Llywelyn.MEASUREMENTS: height / mm:2900, width / mm:630, thickness / mm:380.Accession number: 34.570
