Gwaun-cae-gurwen, Gate Street and Carmel Street

A postcard c 1926 showing Gate Street and Carmel Street looking north. The house on the near left is typical of local stone built /slate roofed terraced houses of c1900 and probably doesn't look much different today[2001]. The shop on the right is Cresci's Ice Cream Parlour, the shop on the left was a newsagents until quite recently. Carmel Chapel can just be seen in the middle right.
