Model of a traditional Radnorshire sledge
Description
Model of a unique Radnorshire combination of cart and sledge for use on steep hillsides or 'sideland grounds'. It travelled uphill as a wheelcart but on travelling down, the wheels were immobilised by chains and it became a sledge. A surviving cart is in the collections of the Museum of Welsh Life, and was made made by Aaron Griffiths of the Gravel, Llanbister Road, Presteigne, c. 1940.
