Replica Roman Wax tablet and stilus
Description
These replica wax tablets are used as part of the Grammaticus KS2 workshop at the National Roman Legion Museum, Caerleon. Sometimes teachers would write letters faintly on a wax tablet so the children could trace over the letters. Pupils would use a sharpened stick called a stilus to write in the wax. The non-sharpened end was flat and used for erasure of letters and smoothing the wax. This item is part of the Roman School Teaching Resource for Key Stage 2.
