This casket, made of rock crystal and enamel on metal, once contained a fragment of Robert Schumann's coffin, a tangible relic of the composer (1810-56) with whose wife George Powell, Nanteos, was aquainted. It is part of the George Powell of Nanteos Bequest given to the University of Wales, Aberystwyth in 1882.
