Sand goggles used in the Western Desert during the Second World War, 1939-45

Description

4206767 Pte. L. Bevan, 1st Battalion South Wales Borderers was issued these goggles for service in the Western Desert. He was on the Island of Leros in November 1943 when British Forces surrendered. Bevan became prisoner of war, but his personal kit was back with the Quartermaster. After the liberation he was posted as driver to Brigade Commander and was informed his kit was awaiting collection at the station and these goggles were part of the items in his kit bag safely returned to him after three years.
