Drum belong to the Monmouthshire Rifle Volunteers, c. 1870

Description

Surviving portion a Bass Drum used by 8th Corps of Monmouthshire Rifle Volunteers based at Usk, Monmouthshire. The 8th Corps was raised in June 1860. The drum is thought to date from about 1870 and was found in a pub in Usk by Bryn Owen, Curator of Welch Regiment Museum in 1960s.
