Goat Mascot of the Royal Regiment of Wales

Description

Taffy III, the regimental goat mascot of The Royal Regiment of Wales died on 7 June 1993. The Royal Regiment of Wales is one of two British regiments to have the distinction of a goat as its mascot. The first goat was adopted at the time of the Crimean war (1854-6). Although known as 'Taffy' the goat is recorded on the battalion ration roll as 'Gwilym Jenkins'. The soldier who looks after the goat is known as the Goat Major.
