Photograph showing the survivors from the APAPA, taken in the garden of the Stanley Sailors’ Home, Holyhead in 1917. This photo reflects the large numbers of West African crew, which was typical for Elder Dempster line ships which employed young men from Nigeria and Sierra Leone to work as firemen and trimmers.
