Narberth Museum

Narberth Museum (originally named the Wilson Museum of Narberth) was set up in 1989 by members of the local Civic Society. It originally rented its premises from James Williams (Narberth) Ltd., Wine and Spirit Merchants and when, in 2003, that firm was sold, the Museum had to move out. A project to return the Museum to the town was launched.

Following nine years of fundraising through the Friends’ Association and volunteers and coupled with generous grants from the Heritage Lottery Fund and the Welsh Government, allowed the Trust to completely restore and re-furbish a historic building, the Bonded Stores. In July 2012 the Museum re-opened and in 2013 was one of ten finalists for the Museum of the Year Award.

Narberth Museum’s collection has been built up by public donation since 1989 when the museum first opened. The collections tell the social history of Narberth and the surrounding villages through an eclectic collection spanning the past 150-200 years. The social history items include objects relating to agriculture, retail, education, textiles, numismatic, medicine, science and industry, transport, decorative and fine arts, archive and photographic archive.
