About
The history of South Wales Police has it's origins in 1841 and the creation of our predecessor forces; Glamorgan, Cardiff, Swansea and Merthyr Tydfil. It was the subsequent amalgamation of these forces which saw the creation of the South Wales Constabulary in 1969.
South Wales Police is a force that is extremely proud of it's heritage and thanks to the founder of the Police Museum, Mr Edward Ronald Baker, the South Wales Police archives are one of the most complete in the UK today.
