The Caerwent Exploration Fund Roman archive
Between 1899 - 1913 the Caerwent Exploration Fund excavated approximately two-thirds of the Roman town of Venta Silurum (Caerwent). The archive, which included many stunning artefacts was given to Newport Museum and Art Gallery in 1916. To date, it is considered to be one of the most important collections of Roman material to have been discovered in Wales. Many of the artefacts are on display in Newport Museum and Art Gallery's Roman exhibition.
