Experiences with the Urdd
Welsh youth movement Urdd Gobaith Cymru, or The Urdd, was founded in 1922 to provide children and young people with the chance to learn and socialise in the Welsh language. Today, over 50,000 young people are members of the Urdd and the annual Eisteddfod is one of Europe's largest youth festivals.
The Urdd formed a major part of children’s experiences throughout the country, be it at the Eisteddfod yr Urdd, at one of their residential centres, sports event or just having fun with peers. These photographs give a snapshot of the wealth of experiences the Urdd has given to the youth of Wales, past and present.
We want to collect stories and photographs that celebrate the Urdd's past and present activities for our current and future generations to understand what their parents, grandparents, or even great grandparents might have gotten up to during their time at the Urdd. Please send them to us through our social media channels or start uploading your content to our website today.
