Alwyn Davies

This interviewee's family rented rather than bought a television set to begin with, and he remembers the thrill of watching Coronation Street in the early days. He was in the RAF during the Coronation and watched the event in a public room. Whilst discussing Aberfan he talks of the unfairness of the situation where no-one took responsibility, and being a part of the campaign to raise money to help the people there. He talks of trips to watch Rugby in the 1970s, watching those games, usually, in a pub. He refers to the effect of broadcasting Rugby and the growing interest of women in the game. During the Miners' Strike media crews from all over the world were staying in the village, and that had caused extra excitement.
