The dates given for this badge make no sense whatsoever. This badge is an 'example' of the first style helmet plate used by Glamorganshire Constabulary in about c.1870, when helmets replaced the old fashioned and cumbersome stove pipe hats. The badge show is a modern resin replica made for the South Wales Police Museum in the 1960's. No known original badge exists.

The original information is wildly incorrect with dating and the badge itself is not original. Its made from resin.
