Scientific Name:Hygrocybe splendidissima
Fungi facts:This is a crimson coloured species of ‘waxcap’ fungi which is found in grassland which hasn’t been ploughed or fertilised with inorganic fertiliser. It appears in the autumn with other species belonging to the waxcap community and is characteristic of ‘ancient’ grasslands.
