Scientific Name:Amanita rubescens
Fungi facts:The Blusher is so called because the flesh and gills blush pink when bruised. The cap colour is very variable and ranges from almost white to a very dark brown. It is found in both deciduous and conifer woodlands and forms an intimate association with the roots of trees (mycorrhizal). It is one of the very few species of this poisonous genus of mushrooms that is described as being edible but is best avoided.
