Parrot Waxcap by Bronwen Wathan

Description

Scientific Name:Hygrocybe psittacina
Fungi facts:The Parrot waxcap is so called because it exhibits a multitude of colour forms every bit as colourful as parrots. They are brightly coloured and vary from an olive green to orange which makes identification difficult. To make matters worse, recent studies have shown that this group is complicated with regards its taxonomy even using what is known as ‘DNA’ methodology. The Parrot waxcap is a member of the ‘waxcap grassland’ community which is becoming scarcer in Britain because of agricultural improvement.
Technique:Hand embroidery and ribbon work
