Blackening Waxcap by Christine Beck

Description

Scientific Name:Hygrocybe conicaFungi facts:The Blackening waxcap is one of several species whose cap turns black with age. This species occurs in grassland, lawns, parks, churchards and golf courses where there is very little input of inorganic fertiliser. It is a member of our declining ‘waxcap grassland’ fungal community and recent studies show that the Blackening waxcap is a complex of different similar fungi rather than just one species. Technique:Appliqué and hand stitching
