Description
Scientific Name:Sparassis crispa
Fungi facts:The cauliflower fungus is parasitic on the roots of conifer trees and gets its common name from the resemblance of the fruit body to a cauliflower. It is edible and commercially grown in Japan and the USA for the catering trade but recently interests in this fungus have arisen because the fruit bodies have anti tumour properties and chemicals which inhibit the hospital 'super-bug' MRSA.
