Dog Sick Slime Mould by Maggie Cornelius

Description

Scientific name:Mucilago crustacea
Fungi facts:This organism is not a true 'fungus ' but a 'Slime Mould'. Slime moulds exist as single celled organisms which live on micro-organisms colonising dead vegetation. When the food is in short supply these single cells congregate together to form a large mass several centimetres in size. The structure eventually changes shape again when the sporulating structures are formed on the surface.
Technique:A textile assemblage
