Scientific Name:Inocybe geophylla
Fungi facts:The Lilac Fibre-cap is a common species of both deciduous and conifer woods. It forms a symbiotic association with tree roots known as a mycorrhizal relationship where the fungal mass is intimately associated with the tree roots. Both species benefit from this relationship; the fungus provides nutrients to the fungus and the tree provides sugars to the fungus. The fungus is deadly poisonous.
