Scientific Name:Sarcoscypha austriaca
Fungi facts:This species is very conspicuous because of its shape and brilliant red colour. It colonises hardwood twigs and branches and is usually more frequent on substrate which is partially covered with moss. The spores are released en-masse from special cells which line the whole of the inside of the cup. Some people have audibly heard this 'puffing' noise when millions of spores are released all at once.
Technique:An assemblage with hand embroidery and free machine lace
