Description

Abergele was one of the early Latter Day Saint or 'Mormon' congregations in North Wales in the mid 1800s. It was certainly the first such congregation to build a meeting house - in 1849 - helped by the presence of two stone-masons who were new adherents to the faith, John Parry and Elias Morris. The congregation soon disappeared, as the majority emigrated, and the building was sold on, but a plaque installed in 1990 commemorates the early Welsh members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in the area.
